On May 8, the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and Information Society rejected the opposition MPs' requests to discuss the mass murder that took place in the "Vladislav Ribnikar" elementary school and the resignation of the Minister of Education Branko Ružić.

On May 17, the Culture and Information Committee adopted the REM Report on the supervision of programs of commercial media service providers and submitted the proposed conclusion to the National Assembly for adoption under urgent procedure, in which it is stated that "mostly all television stations fulfilled their obligations, that reality shows are part of the Pink television’s program, but that there is no explicit example of violence"

On May 18, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia, Vladimir Orlić, convened the third sitting of the regular spring session with four items on the agenda: a report on the security situation in Serbia, a Report by REM on the supervision of commercial media service providers' programs for the period from October 2022 to the end of March 2023 with special reference to the reporting on cases of violence in television programs, the formation of the Inquiry Committee to determine the facts and circumstances that led to mass murders, and the motion of no confidence in the member of Government, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Bratislav Gašić

On May 30, the  Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia, Vladimir Orlić, at the request of 106 MPs, convened an extraordinary session with three items on the agenda: REM's Report on the supervision of commercial media service providers’ programs for the period from October 2022 to the end of March 2023 with special reference to the reporting on cases of violence in television programs, the formation of the Inquiry Committee to determine the facts and circumstances that led to mass murders, and the motion of no confidence in the member of Government, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Bratislav Gašić

The debate is still ongoing.

On May 7, Minister of Education Branko Ružić submitted his irrevocable resignation from that position

On May 9, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said in a recorded video message that he was ready to discuss "all topics, ranging from the media, reality shows, police participation, non-participation of the police, resignations of various officials or not, and to discuss it even in the National Assembly" 

On May 14, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said: "And what is it with the proposal to replace Bata Gašić? What, what is the police at fault for? We are not going to replace Bata Gašić, we don't think we should replace him"

On June 7, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić stated that her resignation was "on the table", stating that she does not see "what the Minister of Internal Affairs Gašić and Director of BIA Vulin have to do with the tragedies"

On June 22, at the session of the Assembly of Serbia where the dismissal of Police Minister Bratislav Gašič was discussed, the Prime Minister reiterated that she would not propose the dismissal of Ministers Bratislava Gašić and Aleksandar Vulin: "Thank you, we can finish this topic."

On July 5 - After a discussion that lasted for seven days, the National Assembly of Serbia did not vote no confidence in the member of the government, Minister of Internal Affairs, Bratislav Gašić. 37 deputies voted for his removal, 148 deputies voted against, and 7 deputies did not vote.

On May 11, the President of the REM Council, Olivera Zekić, considered it a political demand of the opposition that the members of that body should submit their resignations, and that the National Assembly should discuss it

On June 7, several non-governmental associations in a joint statement called on the members of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) Council to submit their irrevocable resignations

On June 8, Judita Popović, a member of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) Council, resigned from that position and stated that she "realized in the past month that it has become pointless to stay part of a body that does not navigate space and time and ignores enormous social turbulence and public dissatisfaction"

On June 8, REM Council member Višnja Aranđelović said that she was thinking about resigning

On June 22, at the Session of the Serbian Parliament, the Prime Minister, Ana Brnabić,  assessed the opposition's request for the dismissal of REM members as irrelevant, because, as she emphasized, she does not appoint them

To stop media violence, present-day REM must be replaced:

• It is necessary for 20 MPs to initiate the procedure for the removal of REM Council members in the National Assembly.
• It is necessary that all proposers call on their members in the REM Council to resign. Proposers are: universities, churches and religious communities, councils of  national minorities, associations of publishers, journalists, film, stage and drama artists and composers, citizens whose goals are the realization of freedom of expression and the protection of children.

REM must do better in the future:

• In order for the REM to be independent and professional, MPs must initiate an urgent amendment to the Law on Electronic Media.
• The urgent amendment to the Law on Electronic Media includes, as a matter of priority: the introduction of criteria for the selection of REM Council members and the removal of parliamentary committees as proposers.
• After amending the Law, the MPs must urgently initiate the election of the new REM Council in full compliance with the new rules.

In order to stop the spread of violence in the tabloids, the state must stop funding these outlets and all other media that promote violence, and punish the media that break the law:

• All levels of government, public companies and all institutions founded by the state must immediately stop all forms of funding to media that violate the law in any way on a daily basis, including advertising, projects, public procurement, etc.
• The Public Prosecutor's Office must, without exception and without delay, react to all criminal acts in the media, in accordance with the powers prescribed by the Law on Public Information and Media.
• The courts must urgently rule on the lawsuit filed by citizens' associations which was prompted by the REM Council’s unlawful decision to renew the national broadcasting licenses for televisions that violated the law. The REM should restart the procedure for the allocation of licenses for national coverage in accordance with the law and the minimum conditions prescribed by the REM.

On May 9, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said in a recorded video message that he was ready to discuss "all topics, ranging from the media, reality shows, police participation, non-participation of the police, resignations of various officials or not, and to discuss it even in the National Assembly" 

On May 25, the President stated that he sent a request to the owner of TV Pink, Željko Mitrović, to consider canceling reality programs on that television within days

On May 25, the owner of TV Pink, Željko Mitrović, said that on the recommendation of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, he made the decision to cancel the reality show "Zadruga" as soon as possible, in no longer than ten days

On June 7, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić declared that the request to cancel reality shows had been fulfilled

On June 8, Željko Mitrović announced a dozen new projects, as well as a new "unsurpassed" season. From his statement, however, it is not clear whether by "new project" he also means new reality shows

On June 13, the media announced that a new reality program format will soon be broadcast on TV Pink, in which the participants will be cultural workers such as artists, actors, writers and opera singers

Radio-television Serbia (RTS) reported on the first few "Serbia against violence" protests as peripheral events, until May 27 when, during the fourth protest in a row, the participants formed a ring around the building of the public service broadcaster, demanding that it should convey citizens’ demands in a timely and adequate manner. For the first time, RTS started the Central news program with a direct broadcast from the protest, which continued during the subsequent protests.

On May 28, in a guest appearance on TV Pink, the President, Aleksandar Vučić, said that "RTS was never a request, but that he will sign it because RTS has become very biased"
