The “Stand against violence” website informs citizens about protests against violence which were held in cities and municipalities of Serbia, as well as announcements of future protests.<\/b><\/h3>\n

In one place, citizens can be informed about the protests’ demands, the fulfillment of those demands and in which cities and municipalities across Serbia protests are being held.<\/b><\/h3>\n

On May 8<\/b>, the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and Information Society rejected<\/a> the opposition MPs’ requests to discuss the mass murder that took place in the “Vladislav Ribnikar” elementary school and the resignation of the Minister of Education Branko Ru\u017ei\u0107.<\/p>\n

On May 17<\/b>, the Culture and Information Committee adopted<\/a> the REM Report on the supervision of programs of commercial media service providers and submitted the proposed conclusion to the National Assembly for adoption under urgent procedure, in which it is stated that “mostly all television stations fulfilled their obligations, that reality shows are part of the Pink television’s program, but that there is no explicit example of violence”<\/p>\n

On May 18<\/b>, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia, Vladimir Orli\u0107, convened<\/a> the third sitting of the regular spring session with four items on the agenda: a report on the security situation in Serbia, a Report by REM on the supervision of commercial media service providers’ programs for the period from October 2022 to the end of March 2023 with special reference to the reporting on cases of violence in television programs, the formation of the Inquiry Committee to determine the facts and circumstances that led to mass murders, and the motion of no confidence in the member of Government, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Bratislav Ga\u0161i\u0107<\/p>\n

On May 30<\/b>, the\u00a0 Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia, Vladimir Orli\u0107, at the request of 106 MPs, convened an extraordinary session with three items on the agenda: REM’s Report on the supervision of commercial media service providers’ programs for the period from October 2022 to the end of March 2023 with special reference to the reporting on cases of violence in television programs, the formation of the Inquiry Committee to determine the facts and circumstances that led to mass murders, and the motion of no confidence in the member of Government, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Bratislav Ga\u0161i\u0107<\/p>\n

The debate is still ongoing.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t#02Institutional accountability and the dismissal of the Minister of Internal Affairs Bratislav Ga\u0161i\u0107, Aleksandar Vulin, the head of the Security Intelligence Agency (BIA) and the Minister of Education Branko Ru\u017ei\u0107, because they are directly responsible for the collapse of the system and the inadequate response from the authorities<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

On May 7<\/b>, Minister of Education Branko Ru\u017ei\u0107 submitted<\/a> his irrevocable resignation from that position<\/p>\n

On May 9<\/b>, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107, said<\/a> in a recorded video message that he was ready to discuss “all topics, ranging from the media, reality shows, police participation, non-participation of the police, resignations of various officials or not, and to discuss it even in the National Assembly”\u00a0<\/p>\n

On May 14<\/b>, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107, said<\/a>: “And what is it with the proposal to replace Bata Ga\u0161i\u0107? What, what is the police at fault for? We are not going to replace Bata Ga\u0161i\u0107, we don’t think we should replace him”<\/p>\n

On June 7<\/b>, Prime Minister Ana Brnabi\u0107 stated<\/a> that her resignation was “on the table”, stating that she does not see “what the Minister of Internal Affairs Ga\u0161i\u0107 and Director of BIA Vulin have to do with the tragedies”<\/p>\n

On June 22<\/strong>, at the session of the Assembly of Serbia where the dismissal of Police Minister Bratislav Ga\u0161i\u010d was discussed, the Prime Minister reiterated that she would not propose<\/a> the dismissal of Ministers Bratislava Ga\u0161i\u0107 and Aleksandar Vulin: “Thank you, we can finish this topic.”<\/p>\n

On July 5<\/strong> – After a discussion that lasted for seven days, the National Assembly of Serbia did not vote no confidence in the member of the government, Minister of Internal Affairs, Bratislav Ga\u0161i\u0107. 37 deputies voted for his removal, 148 deputies voted against, and 7 deputies did not vote.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t#03Resignations of members of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) Council, who are considered responsible for promoting violence, aggression and immorality on televisions with national broadcasting licenses<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

On May 11<\/b>, the President of the REM Council, Olivera Zeki\u0107, considered<\/a> it a political demand of the opposition that the members of that body should submit their resignations, and that the National Assembly should discuss it<\/p>\n

On June 7<\/b>, several non-governmental associations in a joint statement<\/a> called on the members of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) Council to submit their irrevocable resignations<\/p>\n

On June 8<\/b>, Judita Popovi\u0107, a member of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) Council, resigned<\/a> from that position and stated that she “realized in the past month that it has become pointless to stay part of a body that does not navigate space and time and ignores enormous social turbulence and public dissatisfaction”<\/p>\n

On June 8<\/b>, REM Council member Vi\u0161nja Aran\u0111elovi\u0107 said<\/a> that she was thinking about resigning<\/p>\n

On June 22,<\/strong>\u00a0at the Session of the Serbian Parliament, the Prime Minister, Ana Brnabi\u0107,\u00a0 assessed the opposition’s request for the dismissal of REM members as irrelevant, because, as she emphasized<\/a>, she does not appoint them<\/em><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t#04Shutting down printed dailies and tabloids that publish fake news, falsehoods and continuously violate the journalistic code<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
